Each week, we like to feature some inspiration from our sugar tribe. And this week, I have to first of all, I want to recognize Kendall Meyer, I love her if you've been in our tribe or been around our community at all. You will love her too. And she was featured on episode 43 Recently, sharing how she turned her dreams in her skincare business into a reality in her early 20s. Oh, such a baby with such strong boss babe conviction, so tears to your sweet success candle. I have been told by many of our listeners that your story has been their favorite episodes so far. So cheers to you. And I would also like to thank Anna who sent me a note to let me know that quote, this sugar show was absolutely my favorite to listen to because I didn't realize how much I didn't know yet. And go well, thank you, Anna, how you made my day girl, it means so much to hear that all of you are enjoying each episode. And know that we are going to really make so many more episodes that are right up your alley. And we're just really glad that the show was making a difference for you. So whether you are a new listener or a longtime fan, if you haven't left a review yet, my team would really appreciate it, it really helps us to understand we you want us to keep doing it. And all you have to do is tap the five stars and write a sentence or two letting us know how the show has made a difference in your secretary.

03:05

So without further ado, let's talk about your dreams.

03:12

We all lay awake at night at some point in our lives, many points in our lives, and envision what our dreams skincare business might look like. So if you're a new aesthetic student, you might be dreaming about how much you love to take care of people's skin. And you're wondering what avenue you'll take to help the most people and you just truly have this beautiful vision for what you want your career to look like.

03:37

Well, some of you have been in business for a while. And you might actually be wondering how to fulfill your dream of having completely full books now that you've been helping those people with their skin. And maybe you had a different dream as a student than you have now in your butcher business. But regardless, we need to talk about what your dreams are now, and what they are in the future. They might be two totally different things I know they have been for me. So 20 years ago, when I was in esthetics school, I would dream of opening my own spa. And it's kind of tripping me out. But I'm saying 20 years ago, to be honest, because it feels like yesterday and a lifetime ago that I was dreaming about whether or not I would do skincare. And I would make up different treatment menus of services I wanted to offer in my head. First of all, I never dreamed that it would come to life that I would own my own spa. And now that I'd be a sugar Pro, and I used to add up like okay if I did this many clients at $100 ahead I would make this much money in my new dream job.

04:46

Well then, about 10 years ago, I had to reinvent myself in a new city and some of you have heard that episode about how sugar saved my life. And at that point, I dreamed of creating a business that was so busy and fulfilling. But it was all

05:00

also helped me to afford to pay for a beautiful life for this single mama with at the time two small boys. Now fast forward to this year in 2022. My dreams include traveling to different states around the US and even other countries to help estheticians like you experience a similar success that I've had in these last year, you just never know where life will take you. Girl, I can honestly tell you, if you would have told me back in the day that I was going to be smoothing body parts for a living and speaking about it, I told you to have another beer back in college because I just never saw myself doing this. So you just never know where life will take you and your dreams can come true. So I asked you, What is your dream?

05:46

Do you want to give your vision a jumpstart. And if you're listening to this, and you're just walking the dog, it's okay to just daydream. But I want you when you get back to your house or your office to really take out a pen and paper and describe what your dreams are like put them down on paper. And if you're somewhere right now where you can do that, go grab a pen and paper right now. And I really want you to write down your goals and use these questions to speed up the delivery of your dreams. Don't just have all these crazy random ideas at two o'clock in the morning, and then just go back to sleep. Like really write them down. And

06:24

ask yourself like, what is the most important to me? How do I see my dream day going. And I find that when you can put these things on paper and really spend quality time journaling your dreams, writing down your lists, the best ideas will happen. And if you can do your research as to how you can make that dream a reality. You can do it, I did. And you can do it too. And so many of the sweet success stories that you'll hear on this show, they've done it too. So let's talk about six things that really can help you kind of move forward toward that dream, whether it is starting your skincare business or in the middle of your skincare business, or maybe it's even at the end of your skincare business. And you're trying to figure out an exit strategy. So let's get down to it. Let's unpack this. Number one, what's your highest priority in this part of your life?

07:19

Write that down and start to really journal. What is your highest priority in this part of your life? I'm at a different phase than I was 20 years ago, I'm eight months away from empty nesting. So my dreams are different than they were 20 years ago. Like I said, What's most important for you to experience, explore or embrace this time around? Because until you answer this question, your life goals will just be off purpose. Like they'll just be this these things that you know, you think you kind of feel you should do, there's a nudge, but you really don't get down to it and focus on yourself. And if you're not aligned with your inner passion, then your intentions will lack the power to attract the people and situations that are necessary to make these things a reality. Right, you have to get clued in to your true joy. Like What activities did you enjoy the child? What are your hobbies? Now what do you want to do? When your goals are aligned with your soul synchronicity kicks in to guide you to that target. So I knew that I loved to talk Shaka. And when I was in the treatment room doing facials back to back quietly, you know, seven, eight facials a day where I was barely talking to anyone I was just using my hands and quiet which some of you love. God bless you. I knew that I needed to do a service that really brought bodies in the door that I could talk to. And I could educate and kind of preach at the table so to speak, right? That was what was important to me, as well as feeding my kids and making as much money as I possibly could. So that's why sugar was perfect for me. Right? So I had to really ask myself, what is it that I actually want to do that's going to bring me joy. And let's do that. So for you, if you really love, just not even speaking in the treatment room, you love that peace and quiet and serenity. You can add sugar into your facials and increase your income and not have to change what creates that joy for you. Okay, so for those of you that haven't read it already, I want you to go to Simon cynics book. We'll put the Amazon link in the show notes below for Simon Sinek book y and he really wants you to dive into what is your why I'm sure you've all heard of this before. But I want to talk to you about my why and why we're doing this with love to sugar. So you can understand like how deep I kind of got with this right because I've asked myself, Why am I doing love to sugar Why do I do this podcast? Why do I sugar people during the day or why do I have staff? Why do I do what I do? Because now all of a sudden I'm 50

10:00

one years old, and I've like asking myself like, what's next? And why would I do the thing? That's next? Okay. So now I know my why is ultimately my kids, my family and my survival. But I could go get a real job to accomplish that. Now I can make an income to care for them go get a job at one of the corporations around here. When I created this love to sugar platform, I realized when I wrote down my goals and dreams that my Y has become actually for you. Because I remember what it was like so my Y is for that skin Pro, who sat through hours of terrible beauty school instruction to get that license only to have to hack her way through what her Why was becoming

10:46

my why is for the mama who struggles to understand if she is so good at given facials Why is she still struggling? Why is it so hard to make money? Why are there so many people working for this MLM companies selling skincare?

11:02

My alias for the skincare prover wants to set herself apart. For the holistic pro who knows there's a better way to take care of your skin, I

11:11

want you to hear me for a second, I want you to hear my voice in your ear. Whether you're in your empty treatment room, or it's the middle of the night in the dark. As you stare at the ceiling and wondering how you're going to do this. I want you to hear me say to you, you got this.

11:28

And why I learned a sugar is exactly why you should to never had a voice of a mentor. Shoot, we didn't have a podcast back in the day. We didn't have video, basic certification that you could take. I had a voice deep within that said, this will set you apart.

11:48

The sugar stuff is so much better than other hair removal. And this makes sense.

11:53

And this doesn't involve a lot of investment of time, and patience.

11:59

Listen, I'm not here to sell sugar. I'm not here to make money off of people with some get rich quick scheme.

12:07

My why is to teach others how I survived to get out of my comfort zone of facials and wax and do the thing that my clients didn't even know they needed a better way to smooth their skin a way to get their clients telling their friends about what I do.

12:26

I stumbled across Sugaring as and as you've heard in two different podcasts that I've published, it figuratively saved my life.

12:36

My why now is to make sure that there is not a single day or a single mama has to wonder how she is going to feed her babies or pay her rent.

12:45

It's a way for me to use my education, and listen to that voice that comes from my gut to share what I did to survive. And I hope that it sparks other moms to be able to breathe. Because I know there was a lot of days where I just held my breath and I prayed I could sell sugar. But that's not my why there are amazing sugar and product manufacturers for that who do it so well. I don't feel like my job is to sell you on anything. My job is to be a mentor who helps steer you down the success path to that sweet success. I want you to be featured on this week's success story. That's my goal.

13:25

But what is your why? With sugar?

13:30

Which is hair removal? No, it's far from it.

13:34

Your wife should be that client who is getting back on the dating scene. It's the client who's super self conscious about her PCOS. It's the fact that you work so hard to provide your clients and your staff with the best skincare. Why slap hot wax over their skin when there is a natural option. They are our why you are my why they are our way.

14:03

And so I say to you, what is your highest priority right now? What is it that you want to do in this lifetime? Because this is what I've figured out for me. And I know you got this.

14:17

So the second thing is, is this your dream?

14:21

Or is it someone else's?

14:24

It's an interesting question, isn't it? When I was graduating from college, I thought my dream was to become a teacher. I'm outgoing and a natural talker clearly. And so I should teach right. So I got a degree in elementary education. I was good with kids. I was a day camp counselor. So that's what I thought I was supposed to do.

14:45

Then when I couldn't make enough money to move out of my parents house, the right thing to do was get a corporate job and make a good salary and get benefits right.

14:54

So off to the corporate world I went and because I live near Silicon Valley in California. That's what you were saying

15:00

I used to do

15:02

what I felt like a caged bird in my office stuck at a desk pushing papers around my desk. There's just no creativity.

15:11

So I spent a lot of time dreaming about what my dream might even be. And I stumbled across a book by Barbara Usher called, I can do anything if I only only knew what it was. So I'll put that in the show notes too, because she's an amazing author.

15:28

I can do anything if I only knew what it was. I'm smart, I'm sassy. I had no idea what I really wanted to do and what my dream was.

15:38

But I took time to ask myself what the perfect day for Shannon was.

15:43

And I was quickly surprised that my dream was to one day own a day spa, where I could be around relaxed, people taking care of them and a relaxing spa environment. It was my Oprah aha moment, if any of you remember that. Oprah show she always used to talk about the aha moment. My dream was not what anyone expected. In fact, I used to play softball in high school. And when I told my friends what I do for a living, their response was, wait, you. You're not a beauty babe, you're a jock.

16:15

So this was my dream, though this was in my heart. This wasn't what someone else was telling me that I should do to make money.

16:24

Are your goals, your own choice, or what others think you should strive for? You want to look back in your old age and wish you had followed your passion? Will you regret having played it safe?

16:38

Is it selfish to go after your own dream? What joy can you give to others, if you haven't found it in yourself? First,

16:46

I highly advise you to listen to that inner voice and the inner knowing. Because she knows deep down your soul whispers to you Never did I think mine would say go smooth some DJs and teach about sugar. I never ever dreamed that that would be that thing. But I would really, really would light my fire and make my heart happy.

17:10

If you're stuck, I'll link that book again into the show notes from Barbara Sure. It truly saved me. And I can happily say that I followed that dream. And I did the research to figure out what I wanted to do. And can you imagine if I never did that,

17:28

we wouldn't have the show we wouldn't have the passion being spread by the educators and by the students that we've taken care of.

17:36

And there'll be a whole lot of people in the Sacramento area that would not be smooth with the skills that I have and employees that I have that wouldn't learn how to do this. So I am so glad that I took the time to figure out what my dreams are.

17:51

All right, number three, write it down. You're ready. Here's your question. Are you settling for less than?

18:00

Are you resigned to accepting less than your full share of love, health and success in this lifetime?

18:08

Have you compromised and sacrificed your dream? I found that sometimes in the last few years as a wife and a mother, I would put my dreams on the back burner burner. It's hard to say three times fast on the back burner

18:21

to make sure my family was happy first. And my dreams took a bit of a backseat.

18:27

So let's unpack that for a moment. There is absolutely nothing wrong with caring for your family and taking a job that is conservative and stable. Nothing wrong with that. In fact, it's noble and strong. Lord knows that in the beginning of one's skincare career is a true labor of love until the clients feel the books. Taking on a job that ensures your family's comfort that doesn't necessarily light you up is sometimes necessary and that's okay. We got to pay the bills, folks.

18:56

You can't pray your way and sit around and not do some work of some sort might not be your actual dream at first. That's okay. It doesn't mean you are settling it means you're making sure your family's needs are met.

19:12

However, if you do have the ability to make some decisions, and you choose to settle out of fear, this is the message for you. I want you to really hear me.

19:23

You were designed with gifts and talents that are meant to be cultivated.

19:30

If you're a good speaker speak if you have an amazing touch skincare is a great choice. If you love to write and God blessed you with that gift, I'm jealous because writing is my least favorite thing.

19:43

But if you love to write then write tap into what is calling to you and do that. And as my daddy used to say do what you love and the money will follow.

19:55

Anything short of living your true passions will never make you happy. I can promise you

20:00

that. So please do not settle for anything less. This life is too short and you deserve it. The clients deserve it your family deserves that your heart deserves it.

20:10

All right, number four. What will you feel like when you reach your dream? Kind of interesting thing to say right?

20:20

personal passion fuels a vision. Dive into the thrill and exhilaration of the feeling of your dream.

20:29

The Hawaiian Kahuna say where your creative attention flows, so flows your life. So I want you to take a quiet moment and envision yourself living your perfect day.

20:43

You have hit the goals you have set, you are making the money you wanted. You're serving your perfect clientele. What does that feel like to you?

20:53

If you can feel what your dreams feel like? You are 50 steps closer to make those dreams happen. It's that manifest piece, right? If you can feel what it feels like to stand in your shop, in your treatment room, maybe you work for somebody else. It's fine. You don't have to own your own business. You can work for somebody else and show up to a job every day. That makes your heart skip a beat. What does that feel like?

21:21

Stand at the open door of your treatment room, scan your treatment room and say you know what?

21:27

This is going to feel so amazing when there's bodies in the door. When there's brows on the table for me to to sugar and lives for me to change. I will have money in the bank and that will feel so good to not have to worry anymore. Get quiet and feel. Imagine yourself in that place. Feeling that dream coming to fruition. So if you're laying awake right now or you're walking down the street and you're listening to this and you're worried, take a breath, exhale that worry and say okay, I'm gonna reframe this. What is it going to feel like when I achieve this? Because I can tell you right now I have had more than a few moments where I've taken a look around my shop and been in all of all that I have accomplished on my own hard work. And it feels so freakin good.

22:27

And my next dream I'm envisioning myself onstage in front of all of you lockdowns done. I've been telling you this for a while I envision a hug. I was at the San Jose skin show the other day and one of our sugar tribe came up and I've never met her live. But you know what, when I got a chance to hug her, I had felt her hug before in my dream. And it came to life for me. And I imagined it came to life for her. Okay, so let's get some actions. Number five, what steps can you take to day toward that dream. Don't defer it. Even if you just need to write down these six things and do something every Sunday towards yourself. Don't defer your dream. Set up supports and systems around you to instantly translate your attentions into action. Jump on every opportunity that is in line with your purpose and vision doesn't mean you have to spend a lot of money.

23:26

You know, do some free online education, work with vendors. Go and listen to some of these speakers speak or their smaller projects that lead to your larger dream. If your dream is to run a marathon train for a local fun run first. Run around the block first. And find a way to measure your progress. track those little wins by writing in a journal or even telling your friend and tell me if you want hey, here's my goals. Here's my dreams at chan make me accountable. We're here for you.

24:00

Is your dream to build your skincare business and include sugar. Well do your research girl.

24:08

Try getting yourself sugar first. There's a Step. Get properly certified and work hard at it.

24:16

I can promise you it's a choice you won't regret and if it's frustrating you we can always help you with that. There's always ways to get better. We got you.

24:26

Okay, take those steps you can take today toward your dream. Write them down. You got a pen in your hand get involved. You deserve this.

24:38

Number six, if you are telling yourself I can't have my dream. We need to unpack that to

24:45

most people don't believe they can live their dream. They see it they see the dream like it would be cool to have a busy spa or it would be cool to have full books or it'd be cool to use an all natural alternative. You know, but I just yeah

25:00

You know, it's not in the cards for me, I'm a single mom or I don't have any money or whatever it is your excuses.

25:06

Either your belief system has made you believe that you can't make a living doing what you love. Or maybe you feel like you don't deserve your dream.

25:16

To avoid the pain of feeling that you can't have your dream. People often keep their dreams so buried that they can't remember that they ever even had one.

25:27

Everyone has a dream, and everyone is destined to fulfill that purpose. Why? Wait?

25:35

Because life is so short. I'm 51 years old. If I waited, I never would have the things that I have today. I wouldn't know you.

25:47

I wouldn't have my staff. I wouldn't have my beautiful clients. Some of these people. I've been friends with my for a lifetime, it feels like if I would have waited and not started that first aesthetic class, or that first sugar certification, or took the plunge to sign the lease or open the online school? Can you imagine all the people that has affected and how things would be so different now?

26:09

Don't wait. Don't say no. Learn as much as you possibly can, in the proper way about what it takes to work hard to achieve that dream. Don't skimp. Don't settle for ordinary. Don't watch it on YouTube. Find a mentor and make it happen because you get this one life to live to the fullest. And it sounds really cliche. But this is it, folks, this is what you get. I don't get my 40s back. I don't get my 30s back. I'm 50 years old. I kind of feel like the lady on Saturday Night Live that does the kick. I'm 50 and are fabulous. Well, listen, I was 25 like you were was 30. Like you were wondering what I was going to do and how I was going to make all this money. Well, those of us especially in the sugar tribe, we have your back. So if you have questions and concerns, that's what we're here for.

27:02

All right.

27:04

Don't wait.

27:06

Don't say no. And don't keep your dreams on the ceiling of your bedroom. staring at them like they're unachievable.

27:17

Pull them down in your heart, put them out on the page, talk to your tribe. And start now.

27:27

Even if you already have a successful sugar or skincare practice and you want to add sugar, Start Now go get certified, we got to

27:36

listen to more suitesuccess episodes, they will inspire you.

27:43

There is absolutely no reason to not make this happen.

27:47

I don't care if you're a single mom and you have 10 kids, you can do this.

27:53

There is hope and we got you. So if your dreams are keeping you awake at night, it means you're not taking the action to work towards those dreams. So go back to these six steps. And really ask yourself, have I made an effort to move forward?

28:09

Okay, next week, I want you to tune in to hear an inspirational sweet success story because we got them coming out too hot. We always feature our sugar drivers as they sit share their successful sugar journeys with us. Some started later in life, some started as practically babies themselves. But in any one of those success stories, they're going to share with you their dreams. They're gonna share with you their fears. They have them just like you do. Whether you're just starting in the industry, or you've been doing this for 20 years like I have, I still have dreams of things that I want to do. Like I said, I want to be on stage I want to be hugging you.

28:52

All right. So I hope that you feel a spring in your step today. My hope for you is that you take the time to reflect on what your dreams are, not what other people's dreams are, but what your dreams are. Get quiet. And listen to that inner whisper. Remember, she always knows you just need to trust her. If you're a guy, let's do this. I adore you do and you just need to trust him. Or however you identify. That whisper of yours is you

29:27

and it is the universe saying to you. This is what would make your heart happy. Start writing it down, start getting those goals dialed get on some of our coaching calls and let us walk you through it. But start speaking up because these dreams they are possible.

29:45

31:26

Don't wait. Don't say no. Learn as much as you possibly can in the proper way about what it takes to work hard to achieve that dream. Don't skimp. Don't settle for ordinary. Don't watch it on YouTube. Find a mentor and make it happen because you get this one life to live to the fullest and it sounds really cliche. But this is it, folks, this is what you get.
