You are in the right place. Let's dive in.

01:12

When we first start out in the skincare industry or learn something new like Sugaring, there is a learning curve that some of us haven't experienced since beauty school. Or if you are listening to this episode, and you are still in school, maybe the thought of starting your skincare practice is daunting. There is so much to learn. What if you fail? What if you've been working so hard and you won't be as successful as you thought you'd be? What if you can't do it? It is easy to fall into this mindset, especially when you pull your first ball of sugar out of that jar. And you just can't get it to work for you as easily as when you watch me do it in class, or on a demo on social media. Whenever I learned something new, I take a moment to realize that in life, I will always be a student at something. There is always something from Sugaring to changing a tire to learning a new language that not only doesn't come easy, but challenges us on a deep level.

02:13

I remember when I first learned to sugar, I was not able to flick that sugar off my model skin. And thinking about how is it possible that this college-educated badass boss, babe just cannot get this.

02:30

Not only did it challenge me physically with hand-eye coordination, but mentally by challenging my ego in a big way.

02:39

So think about this for a minute. Back in the day, when you would tune in to a particular radio station, you would turn the dial of your radio to that station to tuning in to a particular frequency. Or you would watch the TV show and you click the channels on the on the dial. It is the frequency you that that you tune into that determines what you hear and what you see.

03:05

Our brains operate in very much the same way except they only have two stations that we can tune into the ego station and the higher self station. The ego station is the station that originates inside the mind the programmed mind, which conditions all our limiting beliefs that create our fears. The ego station is our wounded self, our false self, the protected self that we learned to be as we were growing up and needed to find ways to have control over getting love, avoiding pain, and feeling safe.

03:42

Our ego wound itself is a closed circuit. It operates us old information that we acquired as we were growing up information that is no longer relevant or even true. It is not open to new information, it is not open to truth.

03:57

Well, that higher self-station is the station that taps into the unlimited information of the universe. Information that is beyond that programmed mind, the higher self station taps into the source of truth that is always here to guide us to our highest good.

04:16

So how do you tune your frequency to go toward your Higher Self station?

04:22

Well, we've all been given a dial that either tunes us to the low frequency of our ego station, or to the high frequency of our higher self station. This style is our intent. We only have two intents to choose from the intent to get love and avoid pain with some form of controlling behavior or the intent to learn about loving ourselves and others.

04:49

Now, how do you think that this works as it goes with the ball of sugar, right? Well, let's just talk about our intent with

04:59

basically

05:00

how we do things in general and how it relates to how we can overcome that fear when we pull that sugar ball out. So the intent to have control over getting love and avoiding pain, lowers our frequency and keeps us stuck in our limiting mind that ego mind. So if we're a little self-conscious about whether or not we can sugar, our intent is to have control over that to keep us from avoiding pain or to get us to avoid pain. When we choose this lower intention or frequency, we're stuck thinking the thoughts and lies, and taking unloving actions that create fear, anxiety, depression, shame, stress, anger, jealousy, resentment, the list goes on. The ego frequency is the frequency of being a victim. We choose this frequency when we choose the intent to have control, over getting love or avoiding pain. So

06:00

if we want to have control over whether or not we are feeling good about our skills, then we dip down into that ego place if we're concerned, or have stress or some sort of

06:16

just negative feeling as it relates to our skills we dipped out into that lower frequency. At any moment, we can change our minds and choose the intent to learn about what is our highest good and the highest of all, we can choose to learn about our ego mind rather than stay stuck in it. The moment we choose the intent to learn about love, we raise our frequency and are able to access the higher self-station. This is like moving out of the limitations of our personal computer and going out onto the internet only better. While some of the information out there in the internet, internet, the universe is true and some is not all of the information we receive from the higher self-station is true. It comes from something much bigger than us that we need to have faith in. So when you pick up that sugar ball out of the jar for the first time, or even the 51st time, and the doubts of that low-level ego creep in, whether or not you'll be good at it, whether or not you'll be able to get the hairs out whether or not your client likes you whether or not you look good in that apron, stop and remind yourself that you can do this.

07:30

Everyone, even I had fear of this little ball of lemon sugar and water at first, or that really hairy first client or the first Brazilian you ever attempted.

07:43

If you learn to love yourself, and have faith in your skills, because you have taken all the necessary steps like getting properly certified and practicing a bunch, you will be a sweet success too.

07:58

Now, fear can get the best of us whether it's fear of failure, fear of success, or even fear of fear.

08:06

All of us have experienced fear at some point in our lives. And it can be a real stumbling block that holds us back from being truly successful. But fear can hold you back forever if you don't let it. And here are some ways that you can overcome fear. In fact, here are my top nine.

08:26

Number one, separate reality from perception. Ask yourself what's really going on, and locate the facts and place them over your feelings. If you are someone who always doubts yourself, stop and remind yourself that you have been properly trained, and have been practicing. And the reality is, those little hairs will easily come off if you relax and remember what you learned.

08:54

Number two, identify the trigger. Figure out what it is in the situation that triggers you. Learning to identify it will help you learn to combat it. Let's get you sewn that step that you feel like that little ball of sugar isn't going to work. Or did it trigger you that maybe somebody looked at you the wrong way and you're wondering if you're good at your job, identify what it is that's bothering you, and you can rise up to squash that trigger.

09:25

Number three, know where fit fear lives in your body. A lot of times fear takes over physically, it affects different people in different ways. Identify if and how it affects your physical body and do the work to take care of your body. So for example, if you hold stress in your back, you can learn stretches foam rolling to avoid that pain. So if you're someone who takes it on very physically, you can't take vitamins take some some

10:00

supplements that will calm that fear and that nervous fight or flight reaction inside of your body to take care of ourselves and our mind and our body.

10:12

Only good things can come from it. That's where the true success lies. Number four, I do this every day, I want you to practice gratitude. Every day, just quickly list out 123 things you're grateful for or thankful for. Doesn't matter how big or small it is, gratitude helps shift the mind into a positive light, which over time, overcomes fear.

10:36

So next time you pull out the sugar from the jar, I want you to I mean, we do that a few times a day, right? Every time you pull it out, realize how blessed your client is that you're using this beautiful technique. Maybe how grateful you are to work in a job you love. And every time realize how beautiful the results will be, which will result in happy clients and lowering that fear response for you. Number five, listen to your inner voice. Monitor your inner conversations. If you wouldn't say it to a friend, don't say it to yourself, speak positively to yourself, and remind yourself of those strengths. Remember, when you go back to that sugar jar, or you put on those gloves, take that as your time to take a breath and say, Okay, why am I getting worked up, I'm gonna listen to the fact that I'm getting worked up. And I'm gonna realize that I've got this. And as you're putting those gloves on, it'll give you a minute to just ground yourself before you work on your client.

11:44

Number six, remind yourself that you are highly educated. As long as you've been properly certified, and have been practicing on lots of models, you should have the basic techniques down to mold the sugar, and flick it off with mastery off the skin. If you haven't done those techniques, of course, stop and work a little bit harder to get your techniques on point. But if you have done that, and relax and just lean into your skills, remember, the slower you go with grace to glide that skin that sugar over the skin, the better the results, shooting, Sugaring, the client should be relaxing for you too.

12:26

Number seven, look at the glasses have full perception is a very powerful thing. And how you feel about your situation dictates how you respond. So think positively, and you'll give yourself a much better chance for that success. Now, this won't happen overnight. Practice with just one thought, one recurring negative thought, for example, that you have just work on reversing that one thought, over time, this will become a habit, it will become so natural to you.

12:59

If you have a client, for example, that is coming in, that's got you really worked up and really stresses you out. Take a moment and think, Okay, how can I have a different perception about this client? Maybe she's been going through something difficult. Maybe she has low self-esteem. Maybe she's having struggles in her life. But ask yourself, Why am I fearful of this client or her response, and work on reversing that fear. And say, You know what, I got this, I'm a good sugar Pro, I'm going to dazzle this woman with my skills or this man. Okay.

13:37

Number eight. When all else fails, I want you to practice breathing. Breathing helps center your body. And when you stop breathing, your heart stops beating. You can do a grounding exercise or even just take five deep, long breaths at any point to calm and center yourself. It's best to start your day with this. But make sure that you're practicing it all day long. So again, a great time to do this. Your client is laying on the table. Client is laying on the table and you are putting those gloves on, turn your back to the client.

14:13

And take a breath, put those gloves on, think of something positive and remind yourself you are a badass boss babe. And you have a mastery of this skill. So dip your hand into that sugar jar or put your stick into the sugar and slide that sugar out and say to yourself, I've got this I'm strong and I am capable. And if you just calm your breathing, and take a moment to ground yourself every time you pull that sugar ball out, you'll just change the whole mood inside your treatment room.

14:52

And speaking of treatment rooms number nine is creating a safe space. So when you create a safe and secure treatment room

15:00

There is no space for fear. Right, your clients won't be fearful, you won't be fearful if you can create a room that is quiet and calm and loving. So for you find a spot in your treatment room that you love and makes you feel safe. So when bad feelings start to come up where you really start to doubt yourself,

15:23

like, take a look at a piece of art on the wall, or a positive quote you've placed strategically on your counter, or even go to a place in your mind like the beach. The sense of comfort will soothe you and allow you to face your fear. And if you can tell your client has fear, which they always do when they first start Sugaring. Ask them to find a spot in the treatment room. Or maybe place a quote at the foot of the bed that really does help you to just take a breath and relax and guide them through some breathing exercises. It'll help you both I promise. And please keep in mind, these are just nine strategies. Not everything works for everyone. But these are places to start. Start implementing these techniques into your life and don't let fear hold you back from reaching your goals in your highest potential this year and the years beyond.

16:15

You have come so far in your beauty career, nothing can stop you. But you

16:22

take a deep breath, pull that beautiful ball of lemon sugar and water out of the jar and glide it with grace of your clients beautiful skin. The results will be spectacular and I promise you the more relaxed you are, the better results will be and quickly you will take pride in the masterpiece that you have smooth
